Oscar W. Niemi, 86 of Rockland died on April 16, 2010 at the South Shore Hospital. He was born in Carver, son of the late Carl W. and Olga V. (Palm) Niemi and was raised and educated in Plymouth. He has made his home in Rockland since 1967. A Navy veteran of World War II he was a former member of the Plymouth VFW, Oscar was a member of the Ocean Spray Cooperative, Les Amisduvin, and was a supporter of the Consumers Union and the Mass. Audobon Society. He was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables and had worked to develop hybrid varietals of pointsettia’s. He retired several years ago after a 35 year career as a partner in the Leo Kunan Wholesale Florist Co. Husband of the late Doris L. (Masi) Niemi, he is survived by his son Peter A. Niemi of Rockland. The Niemi family thanks friends, colleagues and loved ones for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
