Obituary For Nathan J. Phillips
Nathan J. Phillips, 46, of Rockland, passed away on August 10, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. A skilled carpenter, loving father, and proud Army veteran, he will be missed immensely.
Born on April 8, 1978, Nathan was a life long Rockland resident. He was known for his eagerness to lend a helping hand, and was a jack of all trades. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all , and could always be found with a tool in hand and a warm smile.
In addition to his work, Nathan was deeply committed to his country, completing two combat tours in the Army National Guard. His military service was a source of immense pride for him.
Nathan’s greatest love, however, was his family. He was a loving father to his two children, Madison and Jack Phillips.
Nathan was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia Phillips-Hanmer, whose memory he held dear throughout his life.
He leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory: his father, Lawrence Phillips, of Rockland; his beloved children, Jack Phillips, Madison Phillips, and her partner Vincent Little, all of Rockland; his sister, Andrea Soper of Whitman, along with her husband Daniel, and their children, Ethan and Emily; his former spouse, friend and co-parent Stephanie Phillips; and his loyal dog, Beau whom he will continue to walk with in spirit on the Rail Trail. Nathan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Nathan’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Holy Family Church on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

My most sincere condolences to the family. I was stranded in a broken down car with my children , 20+ year ago and Nate came walking along and just helped me. Got a car, drove us home, got my car to my driveway and wouldn't take a dime of repayment. A true testament of a good soul. Godspeed Nate.

To the family, My favorite memory was always his laugh, it was contagious; I so loved my godson/nephew for his kind heart and and loving nature. When Michelle passed and we had a memorial in Abington for her, Uncle Paul was giving a Eulogy and I was sitting alone.... he came running over and put his arm around me. We do and will miss you. Rest in peace my nephew. Love, Uncle and Aunty
