Obituary For Nancy Jane Shannon

Nancy Jane Shannon

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy Jane Shannon on September 28, just shy of her 85th birthday.

Born on October 9, 1941, in Braintree, Massachusetts, Nancy was the daughter of Edwin and Margaret (Curry) Uzzell and the beloved sister of Robert, Ricky, and Marc Uzzell. A graduate of Braintree High School, she went on to work as a bookkeeper for Howard Johnson's and several small businesses throughout the South Shore.

Nancy spent most of her life in Abington before moving to Rockland to live next door to her son, daughter-in-law and their children. She will be remembered for her resilience and determination as a devoted single mother raising four children, as well as for her loving and generous spirit.

As a member of the Baptist Church throughout her life, Nancy found comfort and guidance in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Though naturally private, she will be fondly remembered for her self-deprecating sense of humor, her infectious laugh that could light up a room, her thoughtful advice, and her beautiful penmanship, which reflected the care she brought to everything she did.

Nancy is survived by her four children: Sean Brundige and his partner, Lisa; Scott Brundige and his wife, Pamela; Kimberly Garland and her husband, Jeremy; and Christopher Churchill and his partner, Tera. She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Ashley Churchill, Allie Morrison, Ben Freeman, Lyndon Brundige, Leiana Churchill, Akela Churchill, GraceBrundige, and Finn Churchill; nine beloved great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is also survived by her brothers, Ricky and Marc Uzzell, and her cousin, Judy Coulon, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Margaret Uzzell; her brother, Robert Uzzell; her aunt, Patricia Coulon; and her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Shannon. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with those she loved and that she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

A private memorial service will be held in Nancy's honor. Those wishing to express their condolences may send cards and messages to the family at:

139 Liberty Street
Rockland, MA

Nancy's strength, faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
