Obituary For Nancy B. Carrico

Nancy (Besarick) Carrico, 78 of Halifax MA, formally of Hanson MA passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014. Born in Milton and raised in Hyde Park, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Madeline (Hayes) Besarick. In 1953 Nancy married her sweetheart Tom Carrico and the family made Hanson their home. In 1971 Nancy's husband Tom died unexpectedly, leaving her to raise their four children alone. She worked as a secretary for both the Indian Head School and the Maquan Elementary School in Hanson, MA. She went on to work as a union organizer for AFSCME. She later became an administrative assistant for the Old Colony YMCA Girls Secure Detention Until in Brockton until her retirement several years ago. After graduating from Hyde Park High, she was awarded a full scholarship from the Massachusetts Institute of Fine Arts for her proficiency in charcoals. However, nursing was her dream. She became an LPN in 1963 and worked at Foxboro State Hospital for many years. Nancy was a member of the Hanson Rod and Gun Club where she received many awards for her archery skills. Nancy enjoyed camping at Myles Standish Reservation and spending summer vacations on Crescent Lake in Wolfeboro, NH. She was an avid reader who loved bingo and trips to Foxwoods Casino. She leaves behind three children, her daughter Deborah Thompson of Halifax, her sons Steven Carrico of Bridgewater and Timothy (Chip) Carrico, of Halifax. Nancy also leaves behind her brother Edward Besarick, of Brockton. Nancy is predeceased by her husband Thomas Carrico, her son Thomas (Glen) Carrico and her sister Joan Kappal of CA. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Nancy's life was full of love and laughter. She will be truly missed by all her knew her.

Nancy's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland, on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 17, at 11:00 AM in the Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson.

Nancy was my dear friend Deborah's mother. I will always remember her as a woman with a strong work ethic who was kind and comical. She did love a good laugh. My most sincere sympathies for all of her family and friends. She left us too soon and has left a hole in everyone's heart. God Speed Nancy ! You will be remembered fondly and sorely missed.
