Obituary For Michal A. Giovanello

Our Beloved Michal Anthony Giovanello, 56, left us suddenly on June 9 and has gone home to be with God. We will remember him for his kindness to all and his special love for all of God’s creatures. Michal was a lifelong resident of Rockland.

His loving parents survive him: mother, Judith Ruggere Odell and her husband Charles of Marshfield. Father, Philip Giovanello of Rockland.

Michal is survived by his identical twin brother Marcus of Rockland, his wife Michelle and their children, Brandi and Michael Valencia Jr. Brother, Christian Giovanello, Steffanie and godchild Brea Giovanello of Scituate. Brother, Mathew Giovanello of Marshfield his wife, Jessica and their children Jack, Olivia and Luke. He is also survived by his very special aunt, Virginia Giovanello of Brockton. Michal also leaves a large, loving extended family and many wonderful friends.

A graduate of Rockland High School in 1984, Michal then attended Massasoit Community College. He owned and operated a landscape company for many years and enjoyed working outdoors. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts D.C.R. Division at Ponkapoag Golf Course employed Michal in Canton, MA.

Michal had a considerable passion for 80’s rock music and attended hundreds of concerts. He devoted much of his time to gardening, nature and family. He loved animals, especially his pets Reese, Moose, and Hulk.

Michal was a huge Boston sports fan. He had a large personality, and his laughter will always be remembered as well as his kind way of donating time and labor to friends and family. Michal will be forever missed and will always be remembered for his enormous heart and his one-of-a-kind smile.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 14, 4-7 pm at the Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated June 15 at 9 am at the Holy Family Church in Rockland, and burial immediately to follow at the Calvary Cemetery, 163 North Carey Street, Brockton.

Immediately after the services Michal’s family invites loved ones and friends for a Celebration of Life at the Rockland Golf Course, 276 Plain Street, Rockland.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Michal’s name to the Standish Humane Society. 622 Congress St. #3113, Duxbury, Ma. 02332

To all of Mike's family, We are just truly heartbroken to hear this news. Mike was an all-around great person.. He was funny, kind and generous. When ever we ran into Mike and he asked how everything and everybody was, it wasn't just a random polite question, he truly cared about your answer. His heart was so big for his family and he will forever live in yours. ❤️ Steve and Carla Dunn

Mike my friend you will surely be missed. Will miss our conversations and your stories of Teese, The Moose and the Hulk. You were an avid animal lover and always a kind person. Michal, your kindness and compassionate nature has affected us all and will help us all to be better. Thank you for always being there to help me, with your big smile and consoling words when things were tough, "It's all good!". My only consolation is that we will all be together some day---I love you and will see you again some day,

We will always remember Mike as a wonderful friend and neighbor for almost fifty years who's kindness was shown in numerous ways, whether a warm hello or a helping hand through numerous snowstorms and fall leaf pick ups or his special gift of love for animals and not just his own but his neighbors as well. Mike will remain in our hearts as a cherished friend and neighbor! The OBrien Family
