I am so sorry to Michael's family for their loss. Michael was a great guy. I saw him play different places, but Ann's Place that really sticks out. He was a wonderful, kind man. Heidi Balben

We have had many fun times together, but one of the most memorable was when his band played in the fog on the Viking Cape Cod Canal cruise, we couldn't see them for half the trip. But that was topped when Mike played on a cruise ship that crashed in Boston Harbor. Thanks for the memories. Love to you all.

Michael was a wonderful and genuine Big Brother. Friend, Mentor and Protector growing up in the so different world of the Blue Collar 1950's. Michael was always there when I needed him, which was a lot. Running interference for me as I stumbled awkwardly through, teaching me so many of the things I still have as a way of being in the world. I will always miss him. I will always love him.

Michael my Brother taught me quite a few things... whiskey gets warm under the seat of a van... dont hold onto the coil wire when someone is about to turn the key... the F chord, no matter how frustrating, is pretty damn handy when playing music... Sarrano peppers make chile way too hot... and motorcycles really DO make you look cool... one of my earliest memories of my brother Mike was him roaring up the hill at Ma's house on a bike... reving the engine... big smile on his face... man, he really was COOL... hard to watch him go slow 'cuz everything else he did, he did fast!!! Miss you, Love you...

Michael, Your pain is gone. God has opened his arms, lifted you up to his kingdom of heaven, where you will bless those with your instrumental voice, your musical talent, and your many extraordinary gifts. In one way or another, we, who are left behind, throughout the years, individually, have also been blessed. In hearing a song, telling a story, seeing a picture. Throughout the days you will forever be on my mind, and also on the minds that you gave something to. We will all have the treasures that you left behind. May you rest in peace.

My thoughts are with Michael's family. We went to Holy Family School together and my favorite memory is ....he was my first kiss! We were 12 years old (well, maybe it wasn't HIS first kiss....) and we were at a going away party for a classmate. He just grabbed my hand, pulled me around a corner and kissed me. Pretty cool for a 12 year old! From the sound of the comments, he didn't lose his swag during the past 50 years!

Michael was a kind, loving, funny, talented and humble guy. I have heard Michael J. Leary and Stoneybrook many times and they were one of my favorite Massachusetts bands. Micheal was a great guitar player and singer but most important, he was a great guy. Stoneybrook was Edna Jean and Wild Country's "buddy band." In recent years, I have really loved Michael and Christine's visits to Ed and Kathy Asci's. Ed and Kathy would always invite my wife, Kathy and I over for dinner to visit with Michael and Christine. We always laughed our butts off and had a great time. Hey Christine, Kathy and I so sorry for your loss and we are thinking about you. Also, do you guys still have Smoky Johnson's sandwich? I'm getting hungry.

  • 05/25/2021

Michael, you were a talented musician and one I was proud to call my friend. Remember those few chords I was teaching you??? My heart goes out to your family, and may God bless and take care of them. I shall truly miss you, Michael! Billy King, MA Country Music Hall of Fame.
