Obituary For Michael H. Ceurvels

Michael H. Ceurvels, 62, passed away on April 16, 2025, after a heroic three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was at home, surrounded by his family. Michael was born on November 27, 1962, and raised in Rockland, where he attended Holy Family School and Rockland High School. Following high school, he pursued his passion at Mass Art in Boston. Michael applied his artistic talent throughout his 25-year career in graphic arts, spending 15 years at ID Sign Group. He had a work ethic to rival none, demonstrated by his commitment to working full-time throughout his entire treatment. His family at ID Sign Group ‘had his back’ every step of the way.

He met the love of his life as a teenager and married her after graduation. Together, they raised two children in Rockland. Michael was the consummate family man, enjoying summers camping or at the beach with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots, but his favorite sport was horseshoes. As a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #841, he led his team to victory in the South Shore Traveling Horseshoe League, winning the Championship Trophy in 2021.

Michael is survived by his best friend and wife of 41 years, Karen Ceurvels (Watson) of Rockland; his son, Michael W. Ceurvels of Rockland; his daughter, Renee C. Franklin (Ceurvels) and her husband Bryan of Minnesota; and his grandchildren, Aiden, Piper, Skyla, and Brody.

He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa Nannie (Ceurvels) and her husband Rondal of Illinois, John Ceurvels and his wife Tina of Maine, Gesina Noun (Ceurvels) and her husband Dave of Rockland; his sister-in-law, Michele Watson and her partner Brian of Abington; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Jayne L. Brennan (Ceurvels), and his parents, Henry R. and Mary Ann Ceurvels.

Visiting hours will be held at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Angels (St. Mary’s) in Hanover, MA, on Friday, April 25, at 9 am. If you would like to honor Michael's memory, donations to The Lustgarten Foundation, dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research, would be greatly appreciated. Michael was a strong advocate for science and participated in two clinical trials, contributing to efforts to further treatment options and finding a cure

I met Mike in 2020 and got to work alongside him at Honorcraft and ID Sign. He was a great teammate and friend, he always took my call, and we could have a good laugh on harder days. He had great skill and knowledge, passion and an outstanding work ethic. We were lucky to have him and glad he could serve as a mentor to me too. He would often share stories about his family and we'd hear about his love and great skill at horseshoes. I know he is by loved all his friends and family, and he dearly love them and was blessed with his grandchildren too. He will be truly missed. Rest easy, Mike. I miss you and am grateful we had the time that we did. - Becky

Heartbroken doesn't begin to describe how everyone at ID Sign and Honorcraft feel... Working side by side with you every day for the past 5 years made each day better and it has been so hard without you here. You were such a great guy and an example for all. I am so glad I got the chance to meet and work with you. Rest in Peace Mike, the world won't be the same without you. See you on the other side someday!
