Obituary For Michael A. McDonald

Michael A. McDonald, 64 of Rockland died on December 25, 2017 at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital in Boston. He was born in Kingfield, Maine son of Walter and Gladys (Atwood) McDonald and was raised in Weymouth, MA. He attended the South Shore Vocational Technical High School in Hanover, Ma and has made his home in Rockland since 1975. Mike was originally a self employed contractor and had formerly been a Tree Warden and Sewer Commissioner for the Town of Rockland. Mike was also a Health Inspector for the Town of Hingham for many years. He had the distinction of receiving the Customer Assistance Award in 2003 from the Town of Hingham. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 42 years Carol A. (Richards) McDonald and their children, Leah K. Eeley and her husband David of Kingston and Shannon M. McDonald of Rockland. He was the brother of Gladys Kilbreth of Maine, Patrick McDonald of Rockland, Kevin McDonald of Abington Paula Carroll of Brockton and the late Dennis, Ralph and Walter McDonald. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Adele and Samuel Eeley and several nieces and nephews.

His passions in life were his family, being creative with woodworking and building as well as spending time at his beloved vacation home in Maine. In the past he also loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was considered a jack of all trades and had a vast knowledge in many areas of construction. The family welcomes family and friends to celebrate his life on Tuesday January 2, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union Street in Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:00 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
