Obituary For Maureen Kirslis
Maureen T. (Kelliher) Kirslis, 83, of Rockland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 25, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late John G. Kirslis; loving mother to Robert Kirslis and his wife Tina of Rockland, and James Kirslis and his wife Joyce of Rockland; sister to the late John Kelliher, formerly of Stoughton, Margaret Sweeney of Braintree and Richard Kelliher of Rhode Island. She was a devoted and much loved Grandma and Nana to Emily, Jeremy, Erika, Jaimi and Matthew. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Maureen was born in Boston, MA to John and Margaret Kelliher and grew up in Bath Maine. She graduated from Morse High School in Bath, class of 1955. She attended Mercy Hospital for Nursing training. Maureen moved to Dorchester where she met John and they were married for 41 years until his passing in June of 2000. They lived in Dorchester and eventually settled down in Weymouth, MA where they raised their two sons, Bobby & Jimmy, and loved hosting family Christmas parties. Maureen was active in Weymouth Cub Scouts for over 25 years. She worked for many years as a Field Representative for the U.S Census Bureau.
Maureen enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage in Bath, ME, going to Las Vegas with her husband John, and traveling on many international cruises. She was an avid collector of fox figurines and had an extensive collection. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in both Rockland, Ma and Clearwater, Florida. She was a snow bird for many years, spending winters living at the Japanese Gardens in Clearwater, FL.
Maureen will be remembered by her family as a loving, giving, fun spirited, social butterfly making new friends wherever she went. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their birthdays and any event that celebrated them. She also loved attending events for many of her nieces/nephews and grandnieces/nephews. Maureen was a walking, talking family tree, keeping everyone updated on extended family. She also loved spending her time playing cards and bingo with local friends and going out to lunch or 'suppah' with family and friends. Maureen will be missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pat Roche Hospice House, Hingham, MA or to The Rockland Senior Center, Rockland, MA

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best. -
