Obituary For Mary M. O'Neil

Mary M. O'Neil, 84 a longtime Rockland resident died on October 11, 2008 at the John Scott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Braintree surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Malden daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Tracy) Crowley and was raised and educated in Quincy. She was a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music and was an accomplished piano player. For several years later in life she resided in upstate New York before retuning to the South Shore. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother and she enjoyed participating in Bingo at Holy Family Parish in Rockland. Wife of the late Thomas P. O'Neil who died in 1993, she is survived by her children Rosemary Nelson of Scituate, Janet A. Borges of Somerset, Maureen J. Darmetko of Bloomingburg, NY, Thomas D. O'Neil of New Paltz, NY, Laura M. Belliveau of Lakeville and Eileen M. Hill of Hanson. Mrs. O'Neil was the sister of Rose McEvoy of Hyannis, Charles Crowley of S. Boston and Richard Crowley of Brockton. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street ROCKLAND on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass followed in Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery. Calling hours were on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 5-8 PM. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit of the John Scott House, 233 Middle St., Braintree, MA 02184.
