Obituary For Mary L. Butler
Mary L. (Rose) Butler, 88 of Rockland died on May 25, 2013 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born in Weymouth, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Fredricksen) Rose. She was raised and educated in Rockland, graduating from Rockland High School in 1942.
She attended Burdett Business School and was later employed for many years at New England Telephone Co. Mary retired after serving 8 years as a secretary at the South Shore Medical Center in Weymouth.
Wife of the late Robert W. Butler, she is survived by her children, Sally E. Butler of S. Weymouth, Robert W. Butler, Jr. and Corinne A. Long and her husband Robert all of Rockland. Her grandchildren Michael T. Long and his wife Julie and Maryanne V. Long and her great grandchildren Katelyn and Sofia Long. Mary was also the sister of John A. Rose of Plymouth, Phyllis Snow of Halifax and the late Barbara A. Swift.
The Butler family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 4-6 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland. A Service celebrated by the Rev. Cliff Brown will be held at the close of visitation. After cremation she will be reunited on earth with her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Donations in Mary's name may be made to the Rockland Citizen's Scholarship Fund, 52 MacKinley Way, Rockland, MA 02370.
