Obituary For Mary E. Pitts
MARY E. PITTS
Mary E. (Doherty) Pitts, 84 peacefully entered into eternity at Alliance Health of Braintree on October 26, 2024 after a period of declining health. Mary was born in Cambridge to Corneliusand Mary (Sheehan) on June 13, 1940. She was one of 5siblings.
Although she was born in Cambridge, Mary grew up in Somerville where she met the love of her life, James (Jim).Married in November of 1961, Jim was Mary’s husband and best friend, with whom she shared a devoted marriage steeped in mutual respect and love for 59 years.
Family has always been the first priority for Mary and Jim, and together they have five children: Mary F.; George C; James F.;David G.; and Brian J all of Rockland MA.
Mary was predeceased in death by her parents, her son George and her oldest brother John, her younger sister Patricia and her younger brother Richard. Mary is survived by her children, Mary, James Jr (Jamie), David and Brian all of Rockland; her sister Nancy. Mary is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Blue Heeler Dempsey.
Mary was a devoted member of the Holy Family Church and its community. She served many terms as a Eucharistic Minister. Mary also enjoyed her family, especially the many friends that her children would bring to the house. No one ever remained a stranger with Mary. Within 5 minutes of meeting her she would know your life story. Mary always said there were no strangers only friends you haven’t gotten to know,
Her passing leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but the memories she created will be cherished for generations by all that knew her and were blessed to be loved by her. And as we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those she loved.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Alliance Health in Braintree and Old Colony Hospice for the exceptional care Mary received while in their care. She was always treated with great respect, professionalism and most of all compassion.
Mary’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in the Holy Family Church in Rockland at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at a later date in the Holy Family Cemetery.

Mary was one of the sweetest, kindest, loving women my wife Carol and I have ever known. We first met her when she was the manager of the Salvation Army store on Union Street in Rockland. Mary was always so positive and caring, she will surely be missed by many. Jesus and the Blessed Mother are surely with you now. Joe Callahan

My Condolences to the Pitts Family on the passing of your Mother Mary. Mary was a Great Women, she told it like it was, and she was a joy to be around. I was honored to be around your Mother and Father, while I was an altar server growing up at Holy Family. They were great people. My parents loved hanging out with Mary and Jim. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all, at this time. I know your mom, is finally up in Heaven with your Father. They are enjoying being together again.
