Mary C. (Norton) Kukstis

On Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, Mary passed away at home in her sleep at the age of 94, following a weekend surrounded by family.

Born in Dorchester in 1927 and a longtime resident of Roslindale, Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia McCue, of Brookline, four of her children, Robert Kukstis, of Cambridge and his longtime partner Susan Murphy, Diane (Kukstis) McDonald, of Rockland, and her husband Mark, Paul Kukstis, of Scituate, and his wife Sheila, Joseph Kukstis, of Plymouth, and his wife Diane, daughter-in-law Marjorie Kukstis, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mary worked as a manager at Bradlee’s in Roslindale for many years, where she was affectionately known as Mary K. At the time of her death, Mary resided in Rockland under the care of her daughter, Diane, and her family, where she continued to read the Boston Globe every day, assemble puzzles, enjoy the birds, flowers and trees surrounding her deck, see friends and family, and root for her favorite Boston sports teams.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kukstis Sr., her eldest son, Edward Kukstis Jr., her brother, James Norton and countless friends.

A small family service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery at a later date.
