Obituary For Martin W. Clark

Martin W. Clark, of Quincy, formerly of Rockland. December 21,2006 Age 49. Son of the late Walter C. and Anne M. (Foley) Clark. Brother of William G. Clark of Seattle, Terence M. Clark of Quincy and his late twin sister, Marianne Clark. Also survived by two nieces, Shannon M. and Colleen P. Clark of Quincy. A Funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street ROCKLAND, on Thursday, December 28th at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass followed in Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Calling Hours were on Wednesday, December 27th from 5-8 PM. Donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Amy Sullivan, 44 Binney St. Boston, MA. Marty died at his home in Quincy after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Rockland. He was a graduate of Holy Family Grammar School and was a member of the Rockland High School Class of 1975. He obtained his degree in teaching from Boston State College in 1979 and had served as a part time substitute teacher at Rockland High School. He served as a local reporter for the Rockland Standard Newspaper for many years reporting on Selectmen's and School Committee Meetings as well as local interest stories. He later worked with Dave Hession working on "Space Camps" bringing hands on rocketry education to area schools. Marty was a member of the Parish Council of Holy Family Church and was a member of the Rockland Council, Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Rockland Jay-Cees and was an Associate member of the John P. Mkeon Post-Amvets in Dorchester. Burial followed the funeral Mass in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.

    I just learned of Marty's passing today. Sorry for my late condolences. Marty was a wonderful man, a great conversationalist and always ready to help someone in need. We should all take a page from his book. I'm very sorry for your loss.

    We have lost a dear friend and a special person-Marty helped the Rockland Boys Basketball program in many ways and was special to all those who played Basketball-He was special to me as the manager of the team. Rest in peace Marty you will be missed however always in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Coach Fish

    I was deeply saddened to learn of Mart's death. He was one of my German students many years ago, and we both shared an interest in "Star Trek" - he once offered me a Klingon dictionary! He and his family are in my prayers.
