Obituary For Mario Antonio da Rocha Cura
Mario Antonio da Rocha Cura of Rockland, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on June 24, 2026 at the age of 53. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. Known for his warmth, affection, tenderness, generous spirit and love for a good time, Mario will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.
Mario was the loving, devoted husband to Elizabeth Collyer Cura and together they shared a number of wonderful years. He was the loving father of Kylie Lauren Cura of Weymouth, MA,and Robert Manuel NobleCura of Dorchester, MA, whom he shared with his former wife, Christina Noble. He was a wonderful stepdad to Christopher Collyer of Rockland, MA, Nicholas Collyer of Waterford, CT, Stephanie Cocomazzi of Pembroke, MA and Samuel Collyer of Rockland, MA. He was the proud grandfather of Laila Janelle, Mason and Ella Rae and “Papa” to Camden, Jonathan & Crew who, brought him immense joy and were the greatest blessings of his life.
Mario was born on July 1, 1972 in Ouca, a civil parish in the municipality of Vagos, Portugal, to the late Manuel da Rocha Cura and survived by Julia Rocha Cura, also born in Ouca, Vagos, Portugal. Along with his parents, Mario migrated to the United States in May of 1974, where they resided in Dorchester, MA, along with his surviving three brothers, Oscar Cura of Tewksbury, MA, Pedro Cura of Dorchester, MA and Roberto Cura of Dorchester, MA.
After graduating from East Boston High School in 1990, Mario followed in his father’s footsteps and had a long and rewarding career as a Floor Coverer. He was a proud member of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local #2168 union. He made a multitude of very close friends in this industry and cherished many of the relationships made.
Mario enjoyed multiple hobbies, including fishing, billiards, traveling and was widely known for his enjoyment of all things Star Wars. Mario was also a fan of movies and enjoyed many different genres including Anime, Horror and Rom-Coms. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, learning how to ride at a very young age after being exposed to it by his grandfather on one of his many trips to Portugal. His love language centered around food and Mario hosted many barbecues and epic seafood fests. Mario was the first to grab a hammer when someone needed a hand. He poured that same boundless enthusiasm into his own home, dreaming up endless DIY projects—most of which he proudly considered 'complete' at exactly 75%. Above all, Mario was a master builder of relationships, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Mario’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Sunday July 5, 2026 from 3:00-6:00 PM.

I extend my sympathy to you Liz and your loved ones. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Mario I could see from the many posts that you and Mario had a special love. Wishing the memories you shared help you during these difficult times. Love Audrey Yakup

Scott and I have known Mario for over 30 years. Mario had an infectious personality and drew people in. He never judged and accepted everyone. Mario loved life and those around him. We have the honor of traveling with Mario and Liz to Hawaii in November of 2025, a trip that we will never forget. Full of great laughs, food, and memories. I will miss you, Chipmunk.
