Obituary For Marie A. Salvatore
Marie A. (Brine) Salvatore, a longtime resident of Hanover, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 88. Marie was the daughter of John Thomas and Ethel Brine of Roslindale. Raised in Roslindale, she attended Philbrook Junior High and graduated from Hyde Park
High School. She attended Brookes Junior College where she obtained her Associates Degree as a lab technician. She worked many years in the medical field.
She is survived by her daughter, Joann Reale and granddaughter Hannah Reale of Scituate, her son Robert Salvatore and his wife, Kendra, of Hanover, her grandson Rob Salvatore and his wife, Nicole, and their daughter, Sophia Marie, Marie’s first great
grandchild, of Rockland, Gail Kennerson of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Bob Salvatore, her daughter, Bonnie Mason of Florida and her granddaughter, Beth Reale of Scituate. She was the last of her 7 siblings, William, John, Edward (Ned), David, Joseph, Helen Fitzgerald and Irene Farrah.
She married the love of her life, Bob, in 1959 and moved to Rockland to begin their life. While there, she was a member of the PM club where she made several lifelong friends before moving to Hanover.
Marie’s love of music and dance started at an early age and continued through her adult life. She was the owner of Marie’s Studio of the Dance for over 20 years, starting out in Rockland at the GAR Hall and eventually expanding to studios in Hanover and Roslindale. She was a member of Dance Teachers Association of Massachusetts and Dance Masters of America but the highlight of her career was as a Rockette in NYC.
She was also a member of the singing group, The People Next Door, and entertained in establishments across the south shore. A favorite of Mayor Kevin White, they played at his rallies in the park in Boston. Their debut album, The Shadow of Man, was the pride and joy of the group.
Marie was also involved with the Rockland Defenders drum corps attending all their competitions. She choreographed several variety shows and musical fundraisers as well as accompanying them to DisneyWorld where they marched down
Main Street USA.
She also loved traveling, taking cruises and going to the casinos, but was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends. She guided us through life with strength,
laughter and love. We will never be able to fill the void she leaves and will be terribly missed but held in our hearts forever.
The Salvatore Family wishes to invite friends and family to celebrate Maries life on Monday July 28th, 2025 from 4PM-7PM, at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St Rockland MA, 02370. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday July 29,2025 at 9AM at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St Rockland MA, 02370
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Epilepsy Foundation of Massachusetts or Spina Bifida Association.
