She was born in Lynn, MA on December 31, 1930, Daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Mendalka) Kuc. Marianne was raised and educated in Lynn, MA, graduating from Lynn Classical High School. She married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, the late John W. Kalapinski "Sonny", on February 6, 1954. She was also pre-deceased by a daughter named Marianne.

Marianne worked at Lynn Hospital, General Electric, for "Morris" as his bookkeeper, Equitable Cooperative Bank, and as a Home Health Aide. During Marianne's retirement years she provided assistance to her daughter as a back-up family child care provider, where she enjoyed playing with and reading to the children who lovingly knew her as "Nana." Marianne's pride and joy were her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching TV with them, filling them up with sweet treats, driving them wherever they needed to be, and watching them enjoy their favorite activities. She always saved the day when it came time to sew and iron dance costumes. She also loved spending time with animals. She lit up when Neely, Kaido, and Lily would visit her at the nursing home. In Marianne's earlier years she played the accordion. Marianne also enjoyed going out to eat, crocheting, listening to music, looking at Christmas lights, watching sports, especially the Boston Bruins, and giving to those she loved.
