Obituary For Margaret "Peg" Gotreau
Margaret "Peg" (Rogers) Gotreau, 92, of Bridgewater, passed away on Tuesday April 13, 2021, at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree after a period of failing health. Born August 7, 1928 in Abington, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Lucille (Burrell) Rogers. A graduate of Abington High School, Peg moved to Bridgewater in 1963 to raise her family. She worked at Christo's Restaurant in Brockton for more than 28 years. Retiring in 1993, she spent her time doing what she loved most, taking care of her family.
Peggy enjoyed cooking, reading and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She would always be the one cheering the loudest. Her true passion was her family. At Christmas time she was the "Food Santa" for her grandchildren, making sure they each received a gift of their favorite "Nana" treat. She always made every person in her life feel special.
Peg is survived by her children, Steven J. Gotreau and his wife Sherry of Bridgewater, Donna M. Davey of Bridgewater, Dennis G. Walters and his wife Beverley of Midlothian, VA, Donald J. Walters of Whitman, Jayne M. Smith of East Bridgewater, daughter-in-law Donna M. Gotreau of Nashville, TN, and her brother John Rogers of Dillsburg, PA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her partner of more than 40 years, George J. Walters, her beloved son Wayne E. Gotreau, son-in-law James P. Davey, daughter-in-law Joanne Walters, son-in-law Don Smith, grandson Ryan Bowen and great grandsons Carter Gotreau and Ryan Bowen. She was also predeceased by her sister Dorothy Norman and brother James Rogers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 19th from 4-7 pm at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home at 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA. A private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 20th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home, 670 Washington Street, Braintree, MA 02184.
