Obituary For Manuel Santos

Manuel Santos, 61, died June 14, 2008 in his home after a long struggle with Cancer. He was born in Azores, Portugal son of the late Loreano and Olivia (Sousa) Santos and was raised and educated there. Manuel married his wife, Luisa in Portugal in 1971. Mr. Santos immigrated to the United States with his wife in 1986. The two settled in Somerville where they lived before eventually moving to Rockland in 1991. Manuel was a 21 year employee of the Portuguese Credit Union in Cambridge where he most recently served as the Vice President of Finance. Mr. Santos enjoyed to cook, especially traditional Portuguese food. He also enjoyed playing dominos and cards with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Luisa (Silva) Santos of Rockland. He is the father of Paulo A. Santos of Chelmsford, and the brother of Julieta Phillips of Ore, Margareda Layton of Ore, Eduardo Santos of CA, Oliverio Santos of ORE, and Jose Santos of Portugal. Also survived by two beautiful Granddaughters Haleigh and Alexia Santos of Chelmsford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church in Cambridge on Saturday June 21st at 10:00 AM. Calling hours are omitted. The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND is assisting the family with arrangements.

    I am so sad about the death of Mr. Santos. He was a good man who helped me many times at the Credit Union. He was encouraging, went out of his way to help and was kind.
