Obituary For Louise (Melanson) Coulstring
Louise (Melanson) Coulstring, 87 of Marshfield, formerly of Hanover died on May 24, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine (Cameron) Melanson, she was born, raised and educated in Hanover. Since 2012 she has resided at the Village at Proprietor's Green in Marshfield where she enjoyed ballroom dancing, singing, WII bowling and spending time with her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Coulstring had been a switch board operator in Brockton for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. She attended school in Boston to receive her training as a hairdresser and worked in downtown Boston. She also worked part time as a waitress at her Aunt Anna's "LaCantina" restaurant in Harvard Square. Prior to her retirement she held the position of CFO of Triangle Engineering Inc. in Hanover. On June 26, 1949 she married Robert N. "Red" Coulstring and they were the parents of Robert N. Coulstring, Jr. and his wife Susan Coulstring of Florida, Ronald A. Coulstring and his wife Charlene Coulstring of Pembroke, Rhonda L. Nyman and her husband the late State Rep. Robert Nyman of Hanover and Randal A. Coulstring of Florida, . She was the sister of Edna Lanzilotta-Hines of Florida and the late Evelyn Ewell, Anabelle MacDonald, Peggy Blair and Geraldine Livingston. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. While raising her children, Louise worked at the former Syman Brother's Clothing factory in Rockland. She enjoyed gambling in all of its forms, scratch tickets, slots and penny arcade. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Country Club of Halifax for over 28 years. She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years where she fine-tuned her golf game.
The family welcomes family and friends to celebrate her life on Friday May 26, 2017 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street in Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in Hanover Center Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, www.stjudes.org, or the Alzheimers Association.
