Obituary For Lorraine T. Ballard

Lorraine T Ballard of Rockland passed peacefully on July 8, 2024, at Linden Ponds in Hingham, MA. She was born in Newton, MA. Daughter of the late Aime and Amanda (Maillet) Frechette. Raised and educated in Newton graduating from Our Lady’s High School in Newton, Class of 1948. Upon graduation she was fluent in French, as her primary language,and English.

After graduating from High School, she worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph in Boston until moving to Rockland, where she resided for over 65 years in a home she and her late husband built. Upon moving to Rockland, she worked at E.T. Wrights in Rockland up to the time of her first child.

Lorraine was a devoted mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren. Additionally, she was a committed and dedicated caretaker to her parents and sisters. She was involved in her faith serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Catechesis at Holy Family for many years. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader for many years.

She is predeceased by her husband George R. Ballard of 59 years and is survived by their children, Steven G. Ballard and his wife Laureen of E. Bridgewater, Joan M. Remmes-Foy and her husband Kevin of Northborough, Gail A. McSweeney and her husband David of E. Bridgewater and Glen W. Ballard and his wife Jerilyn of Hanson. She was the mother of the late Sharon J. Ballard, the grandmother of the late Allyssa R. Ballard and the mother-in-law of the late Robert Remmes, III. Lorraine was the sister of the late Jacqueline M. Frechette and Norma B. Frechette. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, 15great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

The Ballard family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Lorraine’s life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 9 AM at Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth. Donations in her memory are suggested below.
