Obituary For Leonard Sorrell

Leonard Sorrell, born on December 5, 1946, in Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home in Rockland, Massachusetts On June 28, 2025.

Leonard proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Korea. His service to his country was a source of pride and honor . After returning home, Leonard met Edith in 1968, and the two were married in 1969, beginning a partnership that would span many years. Leonard worked as an Operating Engineer for over 40 years, where he was respected for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. He took great pride in his craft and the friendships he built throughout his career. A man of deep faith, Leonard served faithfully as a Deacon of his congregation, The Church of God and Saints in Christ First Tabernacle Beth-EL , where he was known for his humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to serving others. His spiritual leadership and quiet strength were a source of inspiration to many.

The family kindly requests no flowers or donations. Instead, do something great for yourself in Leonard’s honor. Leonard’s life was guided by his favorite scripture, Romans 14:8: ā€œIf we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.ā€ (NIV) His legacy of service—to his country, his family, his work, and his faith—will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him

The family wishes to invite friends and family on Wednesday July 9, 2025 4PM-7PM at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland MA. A burial will take place on Thursday July 10, 2025 at 10:45 Mass National Cemetery Bourn. Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542

    Sorrell family. I will truly miss ( PONCHIE ). I loved to hear him speak, but mostly that chuckled laugh. To you family. He was a blessing to me but in life Loved. In this time family know that he was your Jewel. Sherrill
