Obituary For Leo A. Nichols III
Leo A. Nichols III 7-22-46 to 9-17-2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Leo A. Nichols III announces his death. Leo passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital after a hard fought battle against AML Leukemia.
Leo was born in Vermont and grew up in Wrentham, Ma. He played sports and forged many friendships, some lasting his whole life through. He graduated from King Phillip High School and spent his weekends having fun at Mirror Lake. Leo joined the U.S. Navy Submarine Division where he proudly served six years on the USS Theodore Roosevelt Submarine. While serving, he married his sweetheart, Annette Higgins. Leo and Annette made their home in Pembroke, Ma where they shared a happy life filled with family, friends, and four-legged creatures. Leo was employed at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant until his retirement. During his years at Pilgrim, he made more lifelong friends and enjoyed golfing, coaching hockey, and driving his Corvette.
Leo was the brother of Dawna Chapin, Judy Kozak, and the late David Nichols and his wife, Barbara. He was a dear "Uncle Bumpy""Uncle Bunky"and "Uncle Nicky" to his many nieces and nephews and will be fondly remembered. Leo will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his beloved wife, Annette and the apple of his eye, his Rottweiler, Sasha. Burial will be private.

I worked with Leo for many years at Pilgrim Station. We played a good deal of golf with him. We spent many hours on the phone debating world issues. Those of us who knew him well miss him terribly. You just don't meet them as smart and funny as LN3rd. My sympathy to his entire family. Stu

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Leo. I spent many years golfing with him and every time I was drawn on his team I knew I was going to have a great day filled with fun & laughs. R.I.P. Leo and when my time comes make sure to save me a spot in your foursome!

Uncle Bumpy was such a sweet guy. I always remember him being silly, teasing us kids in a super light-hearted way, and having a soft-spoken-ness about him. And of course his fancy car! We will miss him, I only wish I had seen him in the more recent years! -Julie (Kozak) Manning
