Obituary For Laure E. Houston
Laure Elaine (McLellan) Houston passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Laure was born in South Weymouth on October 13, 1949. She started her career as a nurse, and then switched to working with her very dear special needs students at the Rockland Public Schools. Laure continued to care for everyone around her throughout her life as a loving wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend––and did it with a gentleness that the world could use more of. She was a devoted parishioner of Holy Family Church in Rockland and would often pray that everyone would face their challenges “with God’s help.”
Laure is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Michael Houston; children Benjamin (Jessica Baumgart) Houston, Suzanne (Michael) Safianoff, Jennette (Stephen) Mancini; grandchildren Shirley, Joseph, John, William, Cynthia, and Penelope; siblings Roderick McLellan, JoAnne Cook, Douglas McLellan, Samuel McLellan, and Andrew McLellan. She is preceded in death by her parents Malcolm and Mary McLellan.
The Houston family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Laure’s life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Family Church in Rockland.

I am so sorry for your loss! I have known Laure since I brought communion to her Mom. Always welcoming, warm and I always looked forward to having tea with Laure, her Mom and whoever was visiting at the time. It will always be a treasured memory for me.

So sorry to hear that Laure has passed. I worked with Laure for several years and got to witness her dedication and kindness with all of our students. Laure had a quiet sense of humor as we navigated some challenging situations in the classroom! She was so proud of her family and would share pictures of her kids and grandchildren who were the light of her life!

I met Laure Houston when she worked as a para-professional in my classroom in Rockland many years ago. She always spoke with a soft voice and had a calming aura about her that the students and I loved. Rest in Heavenly Peace Laure, as your work here on earth is done.
