My Best Friend, Kev May 29, 2008 We have all been blessed to have known Kevin McInnis. I was lucky enough to know Kevin for 43 years. He was my Best Friend. Kev? was from Dorchester. A city kid. A Dorchester Proud, city kid. He was the third, of three children, of Alice and Joe McInnis. He grew up with his Sister, Pat and his Brother, Jimmy. Kevin?s Dad, Joe, worked as an Usher at Fenway Park. To us kids, his Father was The Man. Many summer days were spent with Kev?, and us guys, heading to Kenmore Square. Once inside the Bleachers, we mentioned Joe?s name and got a seat right behind Home Plate. Kevin grew up at the corner of Althea St. and Whitten St. Irish and Catholic, in the heart of St. Marks Parish. Like most of us, he went to St. Marks and was taught by the Nuns. Even at this young age Kevin was always looking to help out. I can remember see him in the schoolyard clapping erasers till his hands, and dress shirt, were chalky white. Kevin then went on to Don Bosco High School. Thankfully, no more chalky erasers. From a young age, Sports were Kevin?s passion. He played baseball in the Summer at the Millstream. He played football in the Fall at the Hemy. He played ice hockey in the Winter at Wainwright Park. And then??.Kev starting playing Street Hockey. Kevin loved Street Hockey ? The Burlington Mall parking lot, Coach Wally Pastel, The Milton Ulin Rink, The Woody, Layden?s, Orange street hockey balls, Orange gloves, Orange goalie pads, Orange tape, Orange sweat pants, Orange hockey shirt, Orange sneakers, Orange hat ? he was a human traffic cone. He even drove to the games in an Orange car. Of course, this affinity for Orange was best evidenced by himself, and all of his groomsmen, sporting Orange Converse All Stars at his wedding. Kevin loved the Patriots. In the fall he was at home in his Chair with the clicker, the radio, NFL network and a copy of Patriots weekly. We all knew to never get between Kevin and the TV. Kevin wielded the clicker as a s

The tribute from Jim just before mine was so very moving and captured Kevin perfectly! Kevin was such a love. You were always at every family occasion. He loved family, especially all of you. It is times like this that make living away very hard. You were all in my thoughts and prayers during this very trying time in your life. Uncle Joe passed away when I was young, but what I do remember is how happy he always was to see everybody, much like Kevin. I can only imagine he and Aunt Alice was overjoyed to see Kevin again. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. Love to you all.

Marilyn, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I can only pray that in time your pain will lessen and you will be able to remember the good times. My memories of Kevin include his fondness for Orange, be it sneakers, shirts, or whatever he could find. As I began to think about the many friends I would see at his wake, I found myself realizing how many friends Kevin had. I thought about how many lives he had touched, growing up in Dorchester, through the years at Adams Sports and most recently at Harvard. They say that the final judgement of success is not in how many materials things you have accumulated, but instead it is measured in the number of lives you have touched. In that sense I know that Kevin was a very successful man, and will be missed by many. My prayers are with you and your family at this time of deep sadness. Love, Mike

We will miss him greatly but he will always put a smile to our face when we are thinking of him. Please know that we are here for all of you. Kevin I love you and miss you. Marilyn, I just learned of this 3 hours ago and couldn't believe what I was hearing. I will see you Wednesday if I have to walk to Rockland, after all, I was there when the two of you first met. You couldn't have found a nicer guy and that was Kevin's lucky day as well, bringing you into his life. The best Goalie on this earth has just been traded to The # 1 Team, God's Team. I don't know if they'll like his ORANGE PADS but they'll love the man wearing them because to know him was to love him. Kristy, you lived in my house on Lafield St. when you were 4,5,6 you were a beautiful child then and you are a beautiful young lady now. Was it last year we met in The Hanover Mall? Niki and Stephanie, I don't know you at all but if anyone asks me I will guarantee them you're both wonderful, with parents like Mal and Kevin you couldn't be anything but. I am so very very sorry. Yack

All Is Well Death is nothing at all...I have only slipped away into the next room...I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Put no difference into your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect, without the ghost of a shadow on it.Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was, there is absolutly unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight ? I am but waiting for you for an internal, somewhere very near; just around the corner. All Is Well. Cannon Henry Scott
