Obituary For Kenneth J. Masse

Kenneth J. Masse, 70, of Reading, MA passed away on Wednesday May 10, 2017. Born on June 21st, 1946 in Peabody, MA, son of the late Alfred and Alma (Tardy) Masse. He was raised and educated in Salem, MA, graduating from Salem High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country as a member of the Seabee's. After his military service he matriculated to Wentworth Institute of Technology and earned his Bachelor's degree.

He was a resident of Hanson, MA for 28 years, then making his home in Reading, MA for the last 17 years. Kenneth and his family also summered for many years in York, Maine. A talented painter, he was the proprietor of Kenneth J. Masse Painting Company. Kenneth was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1031, in Reading, MA.

Kenneth had a great sense of humor with an infectious laugh and smile. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He always kept a strong sense of faith enabling him to cope with his many ailments. He enjoyed swimming, reading, animated conversation, and golfing. He loved being on the ocean and spending summers in Maine having clambakes and winters in Florida. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Husband of the late Marie A. (Serrecchia) Masse, he is survived by his partner, Joyce Watson, of Reading, MA and his children, Andrea J. Giordani and her husband Richard of Hanover, MA, Daniel J. Masse and his wife Jennifer of Kingston, MA, Christopher J. Masse and his wife Erika of Tokyo, Japan, and Joshua J. Masse and his wife Lisa of Barrington, RI. He was the brother of Jeri Belknap and Joel Masse both of Florida and Linda Brown of Groveland, MA. He was predeceased by several other brothers and sisters. Also surviving are his "Legacy" his grandchildren, Adam and Rose Giordani, Ethan Masse, Masaki and Takaki Masse, and Delaney and Nora Masse.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate his life on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland. A burial service will follow in Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Covenant House (A Christian nonprofit for helping homeless youth), 460 W. 41st Street, New York, NY 10036.

    So sorry to hear of Ken's passing. We only knew him for 3 years and are thankful for that time. He made our summers at Flaggs so much fun. We'll always remember our Karaoke night. His fun loving nature and laughter will be sorely missed.

    Joyce I am so sorry for your loss. I will truly miss his walk around Flaggs park with that infectious laugh. He is a great guy and i am sure he will be watching over us all as we sit on the beach

    I was sadden to hear of Kenny's passing. He will certainly missed in York. I will miss his constant taunting to go on his float for a ride most. Ken was one of a kind. Keep the memories close.

    Our entire family was shocked and saddened to hear of Kenny's passing. He was a great friend to us, our so sorry and our parents. It goes without saying that there will be a void at Flagg's. His optimistic attitude and unique sense of humor will be missed. Hugs to you, Joyce ❤
