Obituary For Kathleen Martinelli

Kathleen M. (O’Brien) Martinelli, 63, of Rockland passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 5, 2022. Born on November 25, 1959 in Quincy, MA, Kathy was the daughter of the late Richard O’Brien and Rita (Melchione) O’Brien. She was raised in Quincy, graduated from North Quincy High School, and also met her loving husband in Quincy where they started dating when she was seventeen.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Michael Martinelli, daughter Kellyann (Martinelli) Smith, son-in-law Brian Smith, grandson Ashton Smith, her siblings the late Kevin O’Brien & wife Debra, Kenneth O’Brien & wife Janice, Karen Alfano, Richard O’Brien & Carol, Susan McLean & husband Dan, and John O’Brien & Diane, and her many nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s favorite place to be was Nantasket Beach, especially when she was able to hang out there with her family and lifelong friend Karen Ainslie. She also enjoyed her weekend getaways with her girlfriends. One of Kathy’s favorite things was to host family gatherings like St. Patrick’s Day and Thanksgiving, at her house. She always treasured being surrounded by her big family.

Throughout her life, Kathy also loved crafting. She loved ceramics, painting, and making wreaths. Kathy cherished spending time with her daughter, Kellyann. They did many things together: watched endless movies & shows, loved going out to eat, spent summer weekends at the beach, and attending and helping with Kellyann’s dance recitals. She was the best mother anyone could ever ask for.

Kathy was a beloved employee of 32 years at Arbella Insurance in Quincy. Along with being an extremely hard worker and dedicated employee, she created many great bonds and friendships there throughout her years in Customer Service and Billing. The friends she met there had a great impact on Kathy’s life and meant a lot to her.

Kathy’s wake will be held at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St, in Rockland on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St in Rockland on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 9:00 AM followed by a burial service.

The family of Kathleen would like to thank the Norwell Visiting Nurses Association (NVNA and Hospice) and South Shore Visiting Nurses Association (South Shore VNA) for their care and support during her time of need.
