Obituary For Katherine Psaros

Katherine Psaros – Of Rockland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 17, 2026 at 86 years old.

Born and raised in Somerville, MA, Katherine was the beloved daughter of the late Nicholas George and Anna (Saricostas) Kacoyanis.

Lovingly known as Kay, she was an excellent cook and left behind a recipe book the size of an encyclopedia. She was a skillful cribbage player, took great joy in winning card games, and was a savvy crossword solver. A sweet tooth by nature, she took great care making sure every box of chocolate was thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to the occasional chocolate delight, she also enjoyed cranking a few slots at the casino as a treat.

Kay loved sharing Greek family traditions with her loved ones, including rolling grape leaves and making Greek cookies. With her sharp wit, she had an ability to crack a joke at the perfect moment. She was a fierce, selfless presence in her family’s lives, always centering them and making anyone who walked through the door feel at home. She will be greatly missed.

Cherished wife of George Psaros. Devoted mother of Jennifer Calder and her husband Greg, Stephen Psaros and his wife Candace, and Gregory Psaros. Beloved sister of Mary Fries, Christine Sillari and her late husband John, Georgia Woodsworth, and the late George Kacoyanis.

Known to many as Yiayia, she leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Olivia Calder and her husband Christopher Young, Sophia Calder, Jillian Psaros, Katelyn Psaros, and Jack Psaros. She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 in Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home at 135 Union Street Rockland, MA from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street Braintree, MA at 11:00am on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend these celebrations of her life.

Services will conclude with burial at Saint Patricks Cemetery, Rockland MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay’s memory to Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church.

Always remember Kay and George running next-door back-and-forth just coming in. Chatting with my dad over there, playing cards, Kay sitting with my mom just chatting. I Always remembered her Greek cooking! She would always send over the Greek coffee cake with the eggs and the dimes in it😀You'll be sorely missed you were great neighbors!

The entire Cunningham family is heartbroken to hear of the passing of our long time neighbor and friend Kay. Our prayers and warm wishes are extended to George and the entire family. Kay and George were like second parents to our clan back there on Lincoln Rd. She was so kind, thoughtful and such a quick wit. Lots and lots of memories. How her and Gearge put up with all of that rock and roll coming from our house across the street we'll never know. Thank you to all the Psaros family for being such great neighbors. May she rest in peace.
