Obituary For Judith D. Blodgett
Judith D. Blodgett, age 76, of Hanover, MA, died peacefully at home on November 27, 2015. She was the wife of Robert W. Blodgett. Born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late W. Palma and Alyce (Davison) Dickerman, she grew up in Taunton, and was a graduate of Taunton High School and Middlebury College. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls and received the "Grand Cross of Color" award in 1958. Mrs. Blodgett had resided in Hanover for the past 45 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hanover, UCC, where she was Financial Secretary for 3 years, served on several committees, and enjoyed being one of the "Moonlighters". She was a long time member of the Hanover Woman's Club, Junior's, where she served on the board for 35 years, including two years as President. She was also a member of the Hanover Visiting Nurse Association's Board of Managers. Mrs. Blodgett was the Plymouth Bay Girl Scout Council's Cookie Chairman for the town of Hanover for 12 years and served on several study committees for the Hanover School Committee. She served as the winter secretary for Camp Agawam in Raymond, ME for 15 years. Mrs. Blodgett especially enjoyed being with her family, attending her grandchildren's events, spending time with her dogs, vacationing on Cape Cod near Old Silver Beach, Falmouth, reading, doing sudoku, and watching baseball. Besides her husband, Mrs. Blodgett is survived by her son, Stephen D. Blodgett of Milton, and his close companion, Barbara Handy; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer R. and Paul S. Painchaud, of Bellingham; her brother, Robert D. Dickerman of Taunton; 4 grandchildren, Ethan P. Blodgett, Maya C. Blodgett, Stephanie L. Painchaud, and Lauren M. Painchaud, and cousins Marilyn (Davison) Sanborn of Falmouth, Wm. John Davison, III of Brookfield, CT, Sharon (Martin) Schneider of Mattapoisett, and Pamela (Martin) Spooner of Phippsburg, ME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or First Congregational Church of Hanover, 17 Silver Street, Ste 201, Hanover, MA 02339. The Blodgett family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Thursday, December 3, from 4:00–7:00 pm, at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA. A memorial service will be offered Friday, December 4, at 11:00 am, at the First Congregational Church of Hanover, 547 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. Burial will be private.
