Obituary For Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Buiel

Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Buiel passed away at his home in Duxbury on December 26th 2015 at the age of 65.

Larry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Suzanne. A loving father to his two children Joseph M. Buiel and Stephanie McGarry and their spouses Kimberly Buiel and Steven McGarry. Proud grandfather of J.D. and James Buiel. Caring brother to Alex, Michael, James, Rick, Tom, and Kevin. And further survived by many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Larry was a graduate of Rockland High School, class of 1969, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Science from Boston State College, class of 1978. He was one of the original five police officers who started the Rockland Police Honor Guard in 1987. Larry was also a traffic enforcement officer for 5 years, a motorcycle officer and a member of the Rockland Police Special Response Entry Team for 10 years.

He was the ultimate outdoorsman and loved spending time in Maine and Western Massachusetts hunting and fishing with friends and family. Larry will be forever remembered by his hard working and selfless character, as a man of strength and courage and by his infectious love for life.

Larry's family would like to invite relatives and friends to join them as they celebrate his life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union Street, Rockland on Friday January 1, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday January 2, 2016 at the Holy Family Church in Duxbury. Following the Funeral Mass, burial will take place in the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. Donations in Larry's memory may be made to The National Law Enforcement Officers Fund, Suite 100 Washington D.C., 20004.

    Suzanne, Joe and Stephanie and all of Larry's brothers: Where do I begin to tell you what is in my heart. We may not have seen each other much for a few years, but I am so very glad that we got to spend a lot of time with Larry this past summer. He was definitely a gentle giant of a man with a generous soul. I loved to hear "hey cuz, how ya doing". Our love for you will go with you as you begin this new adventure in the home of our Lord.     Dear Buiel Family.. sorry to hear of the passing of Larry.. I only knew him a Rockland Police Officer, but he was always respectful, treated you with dignity and you could just tell he loved his job so by that i am sure he was a wonderful husband and father.....my prayers are with you his wife and children and with his Brothers in Blue...Larry...Rest in Peace and fly with the angels...thoughts and prayers your way

    So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. We were friends since High School. As a retired Rockland Fire Lt. I had many opportunities to work with Larry at various scenes. No matter what the situation, and some of them got very tenuous, Larry could always be counted on. Rest in Peace my friend.

So many times Larry came over to my house to do repairs for me. I am all thumbs and could not fix a thing! I always viewed Larry as indestructible. Larry is still indestructible because his spirit will forever live in the hearts of his family, his brothers at the Rockland Police Department and all of his friends.
