Obituary For Joseph L. Casagrande

Joseph L. Casagrande, 100, of Rockland died on January 26, 2015 at the Royal Norwell Nursing Center. He was born in Quincy, son of the late Charles and Martina (Ceriani) Cassagrande.

Mr. Casagrande served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and was very proud of his service. Joseph had been a 34 year veteran of the Quincy Police Department attaining the rank of Sergeant before his retirement several years ago.

He was a devoted family man and took great pride in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also very particular about his yard at home.

Husband of the late Ellen (Sawtelle) Casagrande, he is survived by his son Carl Casagrande, retired Massachusetts State Police Lieutenant and his wife Patricia of Rockland, his grandchildren, Robert Casagrande and his wife Carrie of Hull, James Casagrande and his wife Jodi and Steven Casagrande and his wife Emmy all of Norwell and Michael Casagrande and his girlfriend Taryn O'Brien of Rockland. He was the great grandfather of Drew, Owen, Sophie, Lucy, Michelina, Robby and Noelle Casagrande. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Rose Herbert and Elsa Zanolli. A Family Funeral Service was held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland and burial with military honors followed at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.     Tom&I are so sorry to hear about the loss of Joe. He was a very special friend. We were so glad to see him before Christmas. Our condolences to all the Cassagrande, We're so sorry for your great loss. Joe could always tell us how much he loved his whole family. We will never forget him, he'll always be in our hearts.
