Joseph G. Grant Sr., 88, of Braintree, died on February 11, 2017 after a period of failing health. Joseph was born in Boston, son of the late Francis, and Mary (Daly) Grant. He was raised and educated in Dorchester, graduating from Dorchester High School. He later graduated from Staley College, and earned his Master's Degree in Education from Suffolk University. Mr. Grant was a proud veteran of our Nations Armed Services, serving in the United Stated Navy.

Joseph dedicated his life to education. He worked for 35 years as a teacher, 31 of which he spent as a teacher and administrator in Braintree Public Schools. At Braintree High School, Mr. Grant was a great friend to special needs students and families and was proud to be an integral part of "Project Prove" at the school. He also taught Speech Communication at Quincy College for 25 years. Mr. Grant was very giving of his time as a volunteer with Special Olympics.

Joseph loved spending time with his grandchildren and family who fondly remember him as having the greatest sense of humor, and a quick wit.

Joseph was the loving Father of Stephen Grant of FL, Deborah Norman of FL, Donna Poynton of Bolton, Joseph Grant Jr. of CA, Gary Grant of CA Laurie Grant of FL, Colleen Leonard of Rockland and the late Linda Norton. Brother of Caroline Driscoll of Plymouth, Marie Forrest of MI, and the late Francis Grant. Also, survived by 14 Grandchildren, and many Great Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate Joseph's' life on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM in The St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
