Obituary For Joseph F. Peters

Joseph F. Peters, Sr. 82 of Hanson died at his home on May 14, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, son of the late Louis and Susan (Hicks) Peters and was raised and educated in Randolph. Joe was a Navy veteran of World War II. A longtime Rockland resident, he has made his home in Hanson for the past 27 years. He retired several years ago after a 50 year career as an ironworker at Sturtevant Mills in Dorchester. Husband of the late Eleanor C. (Haskell) Peters, he is survived by his children, Joseph F. Peters, Jr. of Hanson, Ann M. Callahan of Rockland, Susan L. Cullen of Attleboro, and Doreen L. Shea of Canton. His sisters, Frances McCarthy of S. Boston, Jean McSolla of Scituate and Mary Macaluso of Quincy. He was the grandfather of Diane Kelley, Jennifer Cullen, Sheri Craven, John Shea, III, Jeffrey Shea, Brian Cullen, Kimberly Callahan, Gregory Shea and Colleen Callahan. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Joe’s life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St., ROCKLAND on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A funeral will be held from the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Tuesday May 18, 2010. A Funeral Mass will follow in St. Joseph the Worker Church in Hanson at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Joseph the Worker Building Fund, 1 Maquan St. Hanson, MA 02341.
