Obituary For Joseph A. Pratt

Joseph A. Pratt, 87, of Carver died on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a period of failing health. He was born in Weymouth, one of nine children to Asa, and Josephine (Lavery) Pratt. Joseph was raised and educated in Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School in 1946.

Mr. Pratt was a proud veteran of our nations armed forces, serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Pratt worked for many years for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1990.

Joseph was a long time member, and "Golden Eagle" of the Rockland Aerie of Eagles #841, formerly serving as the clubs Treasurer, and President. Mr. Pratt was also a member of the American Legion in Carver. Joe was a long time volunteer with the Rockland Citizens Scholarship Foundation, He was also a former President of Rockland Youth Basketball.

Joseph is survived by his Wife Helen (Kalwicz) Pratt of Carver. Father of, Theresa Mercer of Whitman, Joseph Pratt of Ohio, and Alan Pratt of Taunton. Brother of, June Jackson of Abington. Nephew of, William Lavery of Norwell. Also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Joseph's life on Friday September 11, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland. A Funeral Home Service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 12, 2015. Burial will follow the services in the Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
