Obituary For Joseph A. Buonopane

Joseph A. Buonopane, 73, of Rockland, passed away March 16, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Joseph was the son of Filomena & Nicholas Buonopane of Boston where he lived until moving to Rockland in 1971. He graduated from East Boston High School in 1959. Joseph spent 2 years active duty and 2 years active reserve in the US Navy. Joe worked in Boston all of his adult life mainly doing building maintenance. He had a strong work ethic and always had 2 or 3 side jobs. One of his very first jobs was working for a surveying company that did work on the construction of the Sumner and Callahan tunnels. Joe retired from The Bank of Boston after 20 years in For those that knew Joseph, the first thing they would mention is his impressive skills in hoarding. A walk through his garage would easy put any hardware store to shame. His collection never stopped growing but to the amazement of everyone, he always knew exactly where everything was. Joseph was a member of the Sons of Italy for many years and was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 113 for a number of years. Joe was the proud father of two Eagle Scouts. He is survived by his sons Joseph Buonopane Jr. and wife Benita of Maysville, NC; Mark Buonopane and wife Jessica of W Barnstable, MA; and his daughter Cristine Waters and her husband Bill of Braggs, OK. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Vanessa Buonopane Villasenor, Clarissa Buonopane, Matthew Buonopane, and Myles Buonopane. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Helene Buonopane, many nieces and nephews, special friends and his former wife Sue Buonopane. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Anthony, John, Vincent and by his sister Pasqualina (Lena) Symonds. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday 19 March 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at Magouns/Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland, MA. The funeral will take place Friday morning with a Mass at Holy Family Church, Rockland, MA. At 9am. A graveside service with military honors will be for immediate family at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.

    So sorry I am just finging out you left us. I wish I was there to say "good bye for now". I know one day our paths will cross again & I will smile & say "hello" as you cerinaid me as I walk though the door. You were such a sweet man, thank you for opening your beautiful heart to not only me, but my family as well. I will never forget the day you let the kids sit on one of many John Deer mowers.     We are so sorry for your loss. We the members of Venezia Lodge have missed Joe's dedication and loyalty to the Order of Sons of Italy in America since he left in 2013. He will be mentioned at our next Lodge meeting. Again our v condolences to the family.
