Obituary For Johnathan T. Dowling
Johnathan Thomas Dowling, of East Bridgewater, aged 50, passed away to Heaven on Tuesday, July 23rd surrounded by family and loved ones. John is survived by his loving long-term significant other, Suzie Lauzon, of East Bridgewater, his daughter, Betsy Mae of Hudson, NH, his stepson Nelson of Plymouth, his father William Dowling of Rockland, his brother William Dowling Jr. and his wife Holly of East Bridgewater, his brother Joshua Roach and his wife Liliane of Rockland as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dianne Dowling, who just recently passed as well as his best friend-Shawn Sweet. John grew up In Hanson, MA, in Brentwood. Some of his best memories and lifelong friends are from Brentwood. He cherished those memories and would light up talking to friends about what a great childhood he had in Brentwood. He later moved to Pembroke, where he continued to make many lifelong friends and graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School. He enjoyed being outside and working and meeting new people. His adventures include living in Vermont for a short time and working in the Merchant Marines in New York City. When he returned to Massachusetts, he worked several local jobs, most recently in the Maintenance Department for a Hingham company. John’s family and friends meant the world to him. He adored his daughter Betsy Mae and her brother Nelson. He enjoyed spending time with them and going out to dinner with them at the waterfront in Plymouth. The past ten years he spent with the love of his life, Suzie. They went on countless spur of the moment vacations to Canada, Florida and other locations. He enjoyed traveling through the years. He loved our family trips to Vermont as well as trips to Florida with Uncle Mike and Aunt Joanne. He would later take several cruises as well as trips throughout New England with Suzie. Anyone that met John knew he was the life of the party. He would light up a room and really lift the mood and the spirits of those around him. Everybody loved John as he treated everyone with kindness, respect and love. He would never let you down. He had countless family and friends throughout that will all remember and miss him.

John, what can I say but that he was a light unto this world, full of joy, laughter, quick to support a friend, a fierce friend. John, my brother, I wish I would have tried to contact you or come visit, it's been ten years or maybe more, but it was time for you to ramble on. I sincerely pray that someone presented you the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that you had believed on him. It's not to be known in this life, where we are all sinners, but hope to see you in eternity. Peace and rest, my brother. Steve Z.

Like a shining star, Jon would light up the room with that irresistible smile, infectious laugh, and handsome face! His Christmas call each year to us in SC was always so upbeat, charming, thoughtful and so greatly appreciated. A treasure among treasures, the universe has lost a sweetheart who will be forever etched in time and remembered for all eternity. Love You! Uncle Danny & Aunt Bambi

My sincere condolences to the Dowling Family, Suzie, Barbara and his beautiful daughter Betsy Mae. I've known John since jr. high school, and we spent 3 summers riding dirt bikes around silver lake resevoir, riding pedal bikes, hiking, and plenty of bon fire parties behind Silver Lake Jr. High as well as the mansion house here in Pembroke. Our parents would say just come back by dinner time! As we grew older, we drifted apart but always remained friends and when I did see John out and about it was like old times! This is an absolute devastating loss. Only the good die young - rest in peace my friend.

John so heartbreaking to hear of your passing. Just rough! Fond memories of the crew- driving around with the windows down on a cold New England night searching for deers, to seeing Steve Miller band, and you being the best man in my ex and I wedding. Some many memories, my friend. Until then rest easy! May you soar with the angels above!

How do you sum up close to 30 years of friendship in just a few words? It's impossible. John, you were my friend through thick and thin and everything in between. I'll never forget all of those nights in Hanson, Pembroke, Whitman and all points in between. Larry's Laundromat? Yeah, we won't go there. 🙂 The barrel incident on the 4th of July? Not going there either. But get this much straight. I'll miss you for the rest of my life. I love you brother and I'll see you on the other side. Love ya, Frank
