My deepest sympathy to the Edwards family. John was a dear friend to my Dad (Ed Cobbett). They did a lot of motorcycle riding together. As a kid growing up I watched them get ready to go on their rides. They were always exited. I hope he and dad can ride one more time.

Dear Lorraine and family, I was completely overwhelmed to hear about John. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family.

I am sure Bill was there in heaven greeting him. They will have a lot to talk about. Motorcycling was Bill's passion and I am sure it was John's also. I often worried when Bill would go riding on his own that anything could happen. But knowing his love for this I am sure if it was his time to leave us he would have done it knowing that he was doing something that he loved.

My love and compassion goes out to you.

    Love, Beverly Messinger

John Edwards Family, I was shocked to read about the loss of John recently. I had just talked with him a few weeks ago, I always enjoyed his stories and he never had a loss for words. He was not only a friend to me, but a great friend to my Dad who just past in May. He will be greatly missed. God Bless...

To all of John Waitsel's (that's what his Mamma always called him) family.
I know that you don't know me and I am saddened that I haven't seen Johnny since he was ~ 7- 8 years old. I would have been ~ 13 - 14 years old then. I am Johnny's half sister, Dorothy's son, Jack Edward McCarn. See anything family in the name?
I am now even more sorry that I didn't get to see Johnny and meet Lorraine when they visited Seattle/Bremerton, WA relatives in 1985. I must have been out to sea or on other civilian Navy business.
However, Johnny and I reunited some years ago on e-mail. We shared our aligned strong Christian, political and 2nd Amendment positions, often.
I'm sure that my imagination falls way short of knowing the horror and grief of you who were there on this family ride with Johnny and Lorraine. However, I have lived much longer than any of you and I have seen miracles come from such as this. Our Lord does not waste any of his soldiers. I will be watching for His hand in this.
Johnny is with the good people who have been waiting for him. My prayers go with you now, that you will carry Johnny's banner high and trust the Lord.
    So, what am I,
    Your Great half uncle,
    Jack

Lorraine and family I am so sorry for your loss. I was so glad when John stopped off at my house in Whitman and a couple times with you. It was great when he would recall all the times he had working at Halliday with my father (John Day) like it was yesterday. I am glad that your husband was not a shy guy. The story's he recalled really touched me as much as I sure touched everyone he told a story too. Meeting up again at Weymouth base, John will not be forgotten. I am so glad that you both stopped by and on the day we were moving to Maine. John was a wonderful man that touched everyone.

So sorry for you all. We have been family for 60to70 years. Lorraine and all the family went to church way back when with me at Congregational Church in Hanover. John plowed the driveway here for years at 926 Broadway. We will miss seeing his smiling face. Get well Lorraine. Love you Bob and Carol Frattalone

A year has past, yet the sense of loss hasn't waned. I still miss our long conversations at your kitchen table. Your chair remains empty at club meetings & no one has the booming admonition to Ride Safe! We knew each other such a short time, but you left a lasting impression. R.I.P. my friend!
