Obituary For John P. Lydon

John P. Lydon, 81, of Rockland, died on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was born on July 29, 1936 in Boston, MA to the late Peter and Mary (Costello) Lydon. He was the loving husband of Georgine (Cleary) Lydon.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked for many years for the MBTA as a locksmith. He was a friend of Bill W., a member of the Rockland Eagles and a member of the MBTA Union Local 589. John loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved playing the lottery, his candy, trips to South Boston and long walks on Scituate Beach with "Gig". John was an avid fisherman who loved to tinker and spend time watching the Red Sox.

Along with his wife Georgine, John leaves behind his children Stephen M. Lydon and his wife Christine of CO, Lorraine H. Delaney and her husband Jim of CT, Helen Cronin and her husband James of NC and Annemarie Studholme and her husband Jay of Plymouth. John was the brother of James Lydon of Plymouth and the late William Lydon, Peter Lydon and Mary Doyle. His nine grandchildren, Sean Lydon, Nichole Delaney, Christopher Lydon, Erin Studholme, John Delaney, Chelsea Cronin, Curtis Studholme, Joseph Cronin and Faith Studholme, his two great grandchildren Payton Baber, Bryce Baber and many nieces and nephews will dearly miss him.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate John's life on Wednesday September 13, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA 02370. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday September 14, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. My father John was an amazing man. He taught me to be strong, independent, and loving. My fathers smile will always be my favorite thing about him. I only needed to see him smile to know I was home. He gave so much of himself to everyone he met, whether helping someone fix something or lending an ear to a friend in need.
