Obituary For John M. “Mike” DiNella
John Michael "Mike" DiNella, 73, of Hingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 19, 2026.
Born on November 26, 1952, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Mike was the son of the late Samuel A. DiNella and Wilhelmina (Bell) DiNella.
Mike is survived by his wife, Ann (DiNapoli) DiNella; his son, Michael DiNella, and daughter-in-law, Talia DiNella; and his cherished grandchildren, Alanni and Drew DiNella. He is also survived by his sister, Lee (DiNella) DelPrete, and brother-in-law, Richie DelPrete; his nieces, Lisa Blonde and Samantha DiNella; his nephew, Ricky DelPrete; as well as many loving great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mike grew up in Rockland, Massachusetts, and was a proud graduate of Rockland High School, Class of 1970. He was known for his quick wit, adventurous spirit, and kind heart.
As a young boy, Mike watched his father and grandfather work in the granite sheds of New England, developing an early appreciation for the craftsmanship that would shape his life. Following graduation, he entered the industry as an apprentice at the age of 17. For 22 years, he dedicated himself to a lifelong career at Custom Monuments, the family-owned business where he helped create lasting tributes and built enduring relationships throughout the community.
Outside of work, he had a deep passion for fishing and enjoyed watching all sports, especially when cheering on his grandchildren in their sporting events.
His love for family, unwavering loyalty, and warm sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their favorite memories of Mike as they celebrate his life and legacy.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was always stopping by Old North, walking the dogs or checking on a job, and waving or beeping as his truck drove by heading to a job. Mike always had a smile and a laugh to share. We will miss him. Rest in peace Mike.
