Obituary For John Hill

John Hill, 85 of Rockland died on August 23, 2012, one day before his 86th birthday at his home surrounded by his family and cared for by Old Colony Hospice. He was born in Boston, son of the late Frederick and Mary (Willard) Hill and was raised and educated in Roxbury. He attended Boston Trade High School.

John has made his home in Rockland since 1990. He was a daily communicant of Holy Family Church in Rockland after becoming a Catholic in 1999 through the RCIA Program of the church. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Masses and brought communion to the homebound.

For many years he was employed at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester as a stationary engineer keeping the heating and cooling systems in good repair. He enjoyed building model ships, clock repair and loved steam engine trains. He maintained his fitness as a member of the Mall Walking Club at the Hanover Mall.

Husband of the late Una (Snay) Hill, he is survived by his children, Sandra Joyce of Rockland and Deborah Alvarado and Karen Sperazza both of Boston. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The Hill family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Monday August 27, 2012 from 5-8 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland.
