Obituary For John F. Sherman

John F. Sherman, 87, of Pembroke died at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on November 30, 2022 following a brief illness. He was born on September 19, 1935 in New London, CT, son of the late Frank Sherman and Siri (Kataja) Erickson.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1953 -1956. He was a member of the Rockland V.F.W. Post 1788, and served as Commander from 1992 -1996. He also served as Commander of District 12 from 1998-1999, and the Grand Commander of Cooties from 2005-2006. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially his beloved Red Sox. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia N. (Duff), his sisters, Elaine and her husband Peter Knowles of Kingston, Ellen Sherman of Seattle, WA and Siri Akins of Maine. He is predeceased by his brothers James I. Sherman and William Sherman. He is also survived by his children, Terry and her husband Vinnie Fortuna of Stuart, FL, Robin Garland and her partner Tim Creed of Abington, MA, Dawn and her husband Darrin McDonald of Arlington, TX, and James Sherman and his partner Tammy Smith of Rockland, MA. He is predeceased by his sons John F. Sherman, Jr. and Scott A. Sherman. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much.

Services will be held at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. in Rockland on Tuesday December 6, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 PM.
