Obituary For Jane M. Mellor

Jane M. (McLaughlin) Mellor, 76 of Rockland, died on June 14, 2016 at her home in Rockland, after a period of illness. She was born in Boston, Daughter of the late John, and Agnes (Fanning) McLaughlin. Jane was raised and educated in Boston, graduating from Boston's Archbishop Cushing High School in 1957. Jane also attended Boston State College where she majored in Teaching, she left Boston State to take on her most important role in life, wife and mom. Jane formerly worked as a Telephone Operator for New England Telephone--doing what she did best, greeting people with a cheerful hello. She also worked for over 30 years as a Teacher's Aide, in Rockland Public Schools, where she helped students learn to read, and more importantly, she made them feel special. Her most important work however, was the role of Mom-- she dedicated her life to her family, and this by far is her greatest legacy. Jane loved art, reading, writing poetry and the beach. She cherished her friends, her coffee club mornings and relished in connections of heart & humor. More than anything she loved her family, and dedicated her entire life to raising them and making her house a home. Her greatest pride and joy was not only her children, but her grandchildren--she loved them dearly, and they adored their "Nanny." Jane was wife to the love of her life, the late George L. Mellor. She was also Loving Mother of George L. Mellor Jr. and his Wife Laurie of Plymouth, Kevin M. Mellor and his Wife Jody of Rockland, Michelle R. Cunniff and her Husband Peter of Marshfield, Susan A. Joyce and her Husband Thomas of Abington, and Pamela M. Guyer and her Husband Charlie of Wenham. Sister of Thomas McLaughlin of ME, and the late John McLaughlin. Jane is also adoring grandmother to 10 Grandchildren, one Great Grandchild, and many Nieces and Nephews. The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate her life on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Holy Family Church in Rockland on Monday June 20, 2016 at 9:00 AM. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370, Southshorehospital.org Burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday June 20, at 1:15 PM.
