Obituary For James C. Hoyt

James C. Hoyt passed away in Hingham on March 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a period of failing health.

Upon returning from serving in the Korean War, Jim graduated from Boston University with a degree in Business Administration and attended a master's program at Northeastern University. Jim had a long career in Human Resource Management, with 25 years at Grass Instrument Company and five years with Sigma Instruments. Jim served on the Personnel Board for the Town of Weymouth, Hingham, and Nantucket.

Jim lived in Weymouth with his late wife, Phyllis, and five children for 18 years before moving to Hingham. After retiring, he moved with Phyllis to Nantucket. From there, they later moved to Carver and wintered in Fort Myers, Florida.

Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church in Weymouth for 50 years, during which he served in several roles within the church. He later joined the United Parish Church in Carver. Jim and Phyllis traveled extensively throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, and Australia. Jim and Phyllis were active in their communities, participating in activities and playing Bocce and Bridge.

Jim was the husband of his beloved late wife, Phyllis, for 60 years. He is survived by his children James R. Hoyt and his wife Kathleen of Hanover, Rosalyn D. Spallino and her husband Robert of Abington, Regina H. Carvell of Abington, Robin E. Hoyt of Northborough and Virginia O'Leary and her husband Timothy of Weymouth. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in memory to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice. Services will be private.
