Obituary For Irene M. Jefferson

Irene M. (Pollard) Jefferson, 88 of Hanover. Died on August 26, 2018 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was born on May 26, 1930 in Vermont to the late Fred and Evelyn (Sheltry) Pollard. Irene was raised and educated in Colebrook, NH and was a graduate of Colebrook Academy. She was the loving wife of the late Richard S. Jefferson.

After attending Colebrook Academy, Irene continued her education at the University of Vermont and Bryant & Stratton College in Boston. She worked for many years as an office manager in dental practices. A member of the First Congregational Church in Hanover as well as a member of the Hanover Chapter of Eastern Star. Irene enjoyed spending her time dancing, gardening, and skiing. She loved cooking and entertaining and spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was doing puzzles. Later in life she took art classes and became quite the painter.

She was the loving mother of Richard S. Jefferson Jr. and his wife Furong Nan of CA, Carol Ann Ribaudo of Plymouth and the late Stephen Jefferson. Irene was the sister of the late Irving Pollard. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Steven and Timothy Jefferson, Nicholas and Christopher Ribaudo. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Lois Arnold.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Friday August 31, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church in Hanover. A Burial will follow at Hanover Center Cemetery in Hanover. Donations in Irene's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Flowers can be ordered through Paul Douglas Floral Designs In Cohasset.

We were fortunate to meet and know Irene for the last 3 years. She was a faithful and loving companion to our Dad, a fellow resident at Allerton House. Irene always had a smile to give and laughed at all of Frank's jokes (no matter if actually funny). She was so fun to talk to and always interested in what was going on. Dear Carol,
I am so sorry about the loss of your Mom. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Irene at the dental office. We shared, work, hopes and much laughter together. She was a great lady and dressed like a model. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
