HINGHAM – Irene Emily (Bondaryk) Ritchie, 93, peacefully passed away on June 19, 2023, surrounded by family at her home in Linden Ponds, Hingham, MA. Irene was born on November 13, 1929, in Dorchester where she grew up. For over fifty years she lived in Braintree, raising her family there. Irene was active in the Braintree schools PTO, with St Clair’s Parish, volunteering at South Shore Hospital, and with her neighborhood friends. She lived for the past 15 years at Linden Ponds, Hingham. Throughout her life she enjoyed baking, knitting, and travelling. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She most enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and friends. She will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family. Irene was especially grateful for her friends at Linden Ponds and for her wonderful staff of caregivers.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Mary (Pietruszkewicz) Bondaryk, by her loving husband of 59 years Robert C. (Bob) Ritchie, her sister and brother-in-law Edna and Larry Risko, her brother and sister-in-law John and Helen Bondaryk. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Paul F. O’Sullivan Jr of Melbourne FL; son and daughter-in-law Robert J. and Mary Ritchie of Farragut TN; son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Elizabeth Ritchie of Hanover MA; grandson Paul F. O’Sullivan III, wife Ana, and great-grandchildren Mia and Dylan of Los Angeles CA; grandson Mark Ritchie of Stoughton MA; grandson Robert G. Ritchie, wife Rachel and great-grandson Robert H. of Natick MA; and granddaughter Rebecca Ritchie of Boston MA.

Irene’s family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. in Rockland on Friday June 23, 2023 from 9:00-10:30 AM. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM. A private interment will follow in the Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy. Memorial donations in Irene’s name may be made to Norwell NVNA Hospice
