You were my oldest and best Quickbooks student. I was going to have you come to work for me.

  • 05/25/2021

Hank will certainly be missed. His laughter was infectious and I will miss hearing it during the summers at Saquish. He was such a talented wood turner and I will cherish a bowl of his that we received at our first getaway weekend when we were told that we had won the bowl but to claim it we had to run the next one. He is probably now running the cribbage tournaments in the sky with all of the players that have gone before him. My sympathy to all of you. Anna

  • 05/25/2021

I can't say that I was a close friend of Hank's. I wish I could. I only spoke with him 2 or 3 times at woodturners' meetings which he hosted in his workshop. Still, each time I spoke with him I learned something. He was a very patient, considerate and generous gentleman. Like I said: I WISH I had been a close friend of his. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

  • 05/25/2021

He presence will be missed, but memories of his jovial encouragement will long endure. Sarewell, old friend... its been good to know ya!

Another saquish great, I have the fondest memories of Hank as child growing up at saquish, wether it was all the tuna trips they took or the toothpick in his mouth he was the kindess man I knew. We will all miss his presence but will never forget him. I have a candle stick he carved on my mantle God speed Hank, Joanne

My deepest condolences to Jane, Damien and the entire Cahill family. When I have my first memories of Saquish I remember this nice, big family from Abington that were out there also. The Cahills. As a teenager working at the Pancake King I got to know Jane. Then @ Condon's / T.J.'s.... here comes "the baby", Damien tending bar. Years later, right up on the corner from my house, "Damien's". Seems these Cahill people have been in my life for most of the time and that's a good thing as they're 'good people'. I always thought that the parents had the biggest hand in raising good children and Mr & Mrs Cahill have done something right. I remember smiling when I read a newspaper article about 'Hank' and his birdcarving. I thought , "this man knows how to live. Always keep learning no matter what your age. It keeps you young.". He was a legend. I just spoke to my brother Hootie, (Bob) last week about Hank and then I saw it in the paper. Losing your Dad is such a monumental time in your life. Hold on to all those great memories. With Love & Sympathy, Janet (Burpee) & Dennis Litchfield

To all of the Cahills, I met your dad at the now Abington Bank 6 years ago. It always brightened my day to wait on him at the drive up window (and any of the Cahills). He was a lovely man and raised an incredible family. I am so sorry for your loss. Betty Ann Doherty

  • 05/25/2021

To the entire Cahill family I would like to convey how sorry I am to hear the news that Hank had passed away. I moved to Abington from Whitman in 1960. I was 8 years old and I did not know anyone. This wonderful girl came one day and asked my mother if she could show me around the neighborhood. Her name was Bridget Cahill. I thought she was the best person I have ever met. Another time, she took me fishing at Island Grove Pond and somehow I got a fish hook caught in my a**. I still think about her and miss her. This was how I first got to know the family. When it comes to all the Cahill's it has always been good memories for me. Hank was a wonderful guy and he will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Hanks passing--He was one in a million. Hank lived life the way it should be lived and gave back so much to all. I remember one day Hank giving me a ride home, taking a log out of my wood pile and confusing me. That is until he returned with a bowl he made from the log. He was amazing, and I cherish that bowl. It was a cold and blustery Sunday morning a few years ago with the snow coming down hard and fast. So hard and fast, in fact, that there were only seven people made it to the 7:30 Mass at St. Bridget's. Hank was one of them. He was a good man and a good Catholic. He is with the God whom he loved so much.

Even though I'm years late, I still wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear of his passing. In the year that I lived under his roof while attending trade school, he welcomed me graciously, and I very much enjoyed time spent talking to him, and hearing about his very interesting life. His love must have been passed down to his grown children as well, as they all were very kind to me. Hank's parting gift to me was a small beautiful wood bowl that he made, that even now as I write this sits a few feet from me on my mantle. My young kids have asked me about it, and with pleasure I tell them about the nice man in the beautiful old house that made it for me. Goodbye Hank!

Hank was a wonderful guy. He will be sadly missed. I have too many memories to list. I will remember his sense of humor and his beliefs in politics esp town politics. I learned to let him speak and keep my mouth closed. I will treasure the pumpkin pin he gave me last year for Halloween and the invitation to go to saquish any time I wanted. He even wrote a note on the back of his card to add me to his list. I havent gone yet but I still have his card. I will miss our morning coffee at Dunks while he ate his bran muffin before cribbage on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Bridget always stopping by at our house on her jog from Abington to Whitman and back, Hank and Lucy driving us out to Saquish with about a dozen of us sitting on top of the beach wagon hanging on for dear life to the roof racks and runnig through the biggest house ever and getting lost sometimes and having Hank around the corner from us just watching us with his great big smile. I feel blessed to be a little part of his life. Rest in Peace Hank Kathy Roache

  • 05/25/2021

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Hank. I feel that how successful a person was in life is not determined by how much money or property one accumulated but by the quality of friends he made and family he raised. I know of no one who was held in higher regards than Hank as he and his family were always spoken of with friendship, warmth and respect. His children have proven to be a chip off the block and are evidence that it would be hard to find a person who lived a more fruitful life than Hank. God Bless. Roy Minnehan
