Obituary For Helena "Sylvia" Duhaine

Helena S Duhaine (Sylvia), lifelong Rockland resident and daughter of Earl Hunting (Peg) Dunham and Sarah Ellen (Helen) McGowan. She passed on November 3, 2018 at the age of 88. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years Richard I Duhaine, David Dunham of Rockland, Stanley Lincoln, Shirley Clark and in September by her daughter Joyce S Duhaine of Arizona. Survived by her dedicated son Richard J Duhaine, whom she always called Johnnie, and his wife Joyce of Hanson. Along with her half-siblings Steven Dunham, Marcia Dunham, Thomas Dunham and Scott Dunham and brother-in-law Russell Gillpatrick. She is grandmother to 5 - Timothy Wentworth and Tanya Wentworth of Arizona, Richard and Beverly Duhaine, Matthew and Jennifer Duhaine and Andrew Duhaine - great grandmother to 10 along with many nieces and nephews.

Sylvia worked at the National Fireworks Factory, Rockland Webbing and the Sandpaper Factory. She researched family genealogy and with Richard, traveling to New England towns to visit town hall records departments and cemeteries. She was well versed in local history, a voracious reader and until this past year read 4 newspapers a day, doing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle and Word Scrambles daily. She was happiest with her little house at 80+ degrees, her books and proved you can live on garlic pizza, pepsi and chocolate alone.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sylvia's life on Wednesday November 7, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
