Obituary For Helen T. O'Neil

Helen O'Neil died last Wednesday January 9, 2019 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham Mass of complications from late life illness. For 93 years she enjoyed a full, active, and happy life shared with family and many friends. She outlived all of her siblings… Eugene O'Neil, John O'Neil, Joseph O'Neil, Alice Carew, Catherine Curley, and Marie Doucette.

Her family grew up in Somerville, Mass in the Irish neighborhood that surrounded Bartlett St, where many friendships and memories were created. Helen spent much of her life in Rockland, Mass at Leisurewoods Park and was very active in activities there and with the Rockland Senior Center, where she made many friends. She worked for years at the Boston Pops, and for many years as a bookkeeper for the Wursthaus in Cambridge and at Wearguard in Norwell. Her passions were golf and bowling which she gave up only eight months before her death, cooking for family and friends, nights out at good restaurants, the Patriots and Red Sox, good jokes, and a good Manhattan. She was a determined and outgoing person with a wonderful sense of humor who fought for a full life to the end despite the illnesses she lived with. She leaves a legacy of love and inspiration with all who knew her.

"Auntie" Helen is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many grandnieces and nephews, and several great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday January 14, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA. A Funeral Service will be held following visitation and burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Project Hope, 550 Dudley Street, Boston, MA 02119. It was her favorite charity.

It was an honor to know Helen. Her kind heart, compassion and sense of humor will be missed by all.
Among the many cherished memories spending time with Helen, I shall forever recall the little "soft shoe" we did in the halls of rehab just a few short months ago. Rest in peace, Helen. <3

Dear Family, It was an honor to be Auntie's chaplain and to have sat vigil with her and prayed. She was amazing as seen through the many stories from her nieces I met. There was a lot of love in her room. May Auntie stories put a smile on your face as you recall her memories and may her faith be a guide for us all. Blessings, Chaplain Carole Care Group Parmenter Hospice

Helen and I made the trek to the Irish Village each year before Memorial Day. I loved coming East to spend time with her and hear her wonderful stories of her life. She was cherished by her friends and family and gave her all to both. Auntie Helen went straight to Heaven and is dancing the Irish Jig with loved ones.

O Helen I have been thinking of you for weeks.
We lost touch after I no longer had my friend in Liesurewoods.
I loved you so much, you were the essence of hospitality and generosity! You and Alice at my 60th
Darling Johnny doing my hair . Having tea with you or a drink in your beautiful living room at Liesurewoods!
My love and prayers to all your nieces - a true treasure you were. Rest in Joy and Laughter!
