Obituary For Harold D. Decoste

Harold D. DeCoste, 86,of E. Greenwich R.I. died on Friday, surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Harold was born in Quincy son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Crotty) DeCoste. Mr. DeCoste was a World War II Navy veteran. Harold and his late wife Stella (Walker), began their married life together in Quincy. Harold Built their new home in East Milton then moved to Hanover in 1953, where he remained until 2006. After a brief stay in Halifax, he moved to Rhode Island to live with his daughter Susan. Harold was a proud member of the local #17 Sheet Metal Workers Union, and had recently received his pin for 50 years of service to the Union. Harold was a talented craftsman and could do just about anything with his hands. Harold was the father of Susan Bulawka and her husband David of E. Greenwich R.I., Marie Whelpley and her Husband Barry of FLA, David DeCoste and his late wife Debra (Warmington) of Carver, and John DeCoste of Pembroke. Brother of the late Geraldine Stretton, Wilfred DeCoste, Lawrence DeCoste, Althea Nolan, and Marilyn Woods. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St ROCKLAND on Wednesday June 4,2008 at 11:00 AM. Burial followed in the Hanover Center Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Tuesday June 3,2008 from 5-8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the VNA of Rhode Island 475 Kilvery St. Suite 400, Warwick RI 02886.

    To Uncle Hal's children: I am sorry for your loss. I will always remember Uncle Hal and Auntie Stel visiting us Mainers every single summer for the fair and rapids.
