Obituary For Grace T. Cronin

Grace Theresa Cronin, 96, of Rockland died peacefully, with her family near her side, on August 2, 2022.

Grace was born on July 12, 1926 in the Dorchester section of Boston to the late Hugh and Marion (Magoon) Foley. She was raised and educated in Boston and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School. On the day she turned 21, she married Eugene F. Cronin, who she first met on her 16th birthday. They raised a family and lived happily together for 72 years until his death in 2019.

Grace and her family moved to Rockland in 1960, where she became a communicant of Holy Family Church. She also supported her town, in her quiet, but effective, way, as an employee of the School Lunch Program ensuring that the children in her line were fed, even those who forgot their lunch money. As Grace and Eugene grew older, they became participants in the Rockland Senior Center and often enjoyed the society of other members. Grace was a lifelong fan of Sinatra, enjoyed reading, and was happiest when she was in the company of any of her fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Grace was the mother of Gene F. Cronin, who lives with his spouse, Donna, in North Carolina; Linda M. Cronin of Florida; Paul J. Cronin, who lives with his spouse, Kate, in Nevada; Eileen T. Glennon, who lives with her spouse, Michael, in Rehoboth; and Kevin P. Cronin of Rockland. Grace was the loving sister of Hugh J. Foley who resides with his wife Joan in Sandwich and is predeceased by her sisters Anna Clark, Frances McCaffrey, Marion Spinney, Catherine (Patricia) May, and Sr. Maria Joseph.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, Mass. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 9am at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
